Killed-In-Training

On May 9, 1984, Captain Michael E. Dionne, a 34-year-old combat control team member from Orlando, Florida, tragically lost his life during a parachute training exercise near the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado.

According to an Air Force spokesman, a sudden gust of wind caused his parachute to collapse mid-jump. Captain Dionne was transported to the Air Force Academy Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
